Location: Chicago, IL
Event Type: Food Festival
Music lovers, foodies, and travel enthusiasts alike wait in anticipation every year for the bloom of sunshine, spring flowers and quick afternoon rainstorms — signifying occurrences that preempt the years’ optimal quarter: Summer, aka, music and food festival season. One experience that stands alone in the face of competition is the Taste of Chicago. Not only is it the nation’s premier outdoor food festival catering to the city’s rich culinary blueprint, but, according to its official site, is the world’s largest food festival. And oh yeah, admission is free.
Over the span of July 5-9, 2017, attendees will be treated to a slew of pleasantries: restaurant tastings, live music showcases, beverage offerings, “chef du jour” meals (tickets required) and more, with a few additional accompaniments for this year: six new food trucks, eleven new pop-up restaurants and an all-new cocktail menu. Guests can expect offerings from over 30 Chicago-based food and fare establishments, along with a dozen or more pop-up restaurants, and enough beer and alcohol to send a rookie home early.
The free Bud Light performance stage always sets the scene for an enjoyable experience, with genre specific days leading up to the ‘Cornucopia of Music!’, Sunday’s grand finale. Additional performances take place as the Petrillo Music Shell Concerts, with Alessia Cara headlining this year’s stage. Lawn seating in the Butler Field venue is free, but the show does require tickets for elevated seating.
Debuting July 4, 1980, 2017 marks the 37th year Taste of Chicago will provide the city its greatest food showcase and outdoor lifestyle experience, and it’s attendees, the Summer function that is not to be missed.Tags:Chicago, culture, Events, food, Taste of Chicago
