The space
This 330 sq ft space was built to impress! Surrounded by high windows that are nestled under a canopy of trees, to provide guests with an indoor-outdoor living experience. Outside the studio, there is a small area where you can enjoy your morning coffee in private surrounded by a privacy fence.
The fantastic Oak Cliff neighborhood location is complemented by the contemporary design and décor of this charming studio. You'll find everything needed for an ideal vacation within this remarkable space.
We are proud to say that this is #blackownedandoperated and also #queerowned property that also functions as a safe space for LGBTQI youth experiencing temporary displacement. All of the products used in the property (the coffee, toilet paper, cleaning products, art, etc.) exclusively comes from other black or black and queer individuals.

Originally from Houston TX, I decided to call Dallas my home for a few years after completing grad school. Now, you can find me floating between major cities in Texas, Georgia, and Mexico. I work remotely as a Director of IT at a local LGBTQ non-profit agency. With a passion for travel, I am proud to have had the opportunity to see almost every continent our beautiful planet has to offer. I am overjoyed to have created safe spaces for guests to love as much as I do! Originally, I was inspired from an idea of an Airbnb I personally stayed at in California. I fell in love with that experience and decided to bring it home, where the “Mudhaus" was born! Deriving from the popular saying "out the mud" which means to start from the bottom and end up on top. Currently, The Mudhaus consists of two spaces – the first is known as ‘The Studio Haus,’ a converted detached garage. The most recent is ‘The Main Haus,’ which is the neighboring bungalow in front of the studio. Both spaces were built from love! Please feel free to make yourself at home and reach out if you have any questions at all!
